Howdy Folks! Man I’ve missed ya. It’s been a minute or two since my last posting but hopefully you’re still with me. This spot was featured on Guy’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives so we went to check it out!
La Santisima Gourmet Taco Shop
From the drinks, authenticity, and artwork, I loved this place! It’s not huge, but packs in lots of flavor!!
Horrrchataahh!! Homemade, not too sweet, lots of cinnamon and nutmeg, pieces of strawberries and melons and pecans! Aaand practically “Thirst Buster” size, why WOULDN’T you get it?
They have a really great bar and drink list. Lots of quality tequillas too. I also tried their Paloma. Tequilla, Grapefruit Juice, Lime, and some other stuff. !Peligroso!
Holy Guacamole have you ever? On Chips or just eat it out of the cup! KABOOM!! Its the bomb!
Plus there’s also a spicy Jicama de gallo. I ❤ Jicama.
I hear their Guacamole is the best in the West, (Mango in guac??!! Absolutely!!) but they were out =( . Guess it’ s popular. Next time! (I also missed out on Queso Fundido. It was on the specials board which I did not see. Servers! Ya gotta tell your patrons about these things! Check average, hello??)
***UPDATE! The 2nd time to La Santisima the Guac was in stock! And it’s no joke! There are bits of jicama, mango and cranberries in it so its got a great sweet kick to it! So fun and fresh. Took all of our strength not to order a second bowl!
I ordered the Pacific White Fish Taco and The Oaxacan Black Mole Taco. I ordered an extra side of the mole and put it on everything. Mom and EJ shared the El Gaucho Burro cuz it’s grande! (That’s burrrrrrro 😉 ) Tom got the Mayan Cochinita Pibil Burro which is
Show roasted pork shoulder with achiote rojo. Topped with lime marinated onions, Salsa Habanera Maya and homemade beans. It was excelente. They do not serve carnitas but this is close.
***PS! Will go back for the quesadillas. So, I dont normally love quesadillas but their’s are special. Don’t know what they do here but it’s like a “puffy” tortilla. Almost doughy–and doughy is my thang! Want to try this one: La Condesa Veggie Quesa (Oaxaca cheese, mushrooms, poblano pepper, onions, spinach and fresh garlic. Cuz, obvi!!)
Hurry! If you go to the Glendale spot, head over to Glendale Glitters. The land of a billion lights, treats, and fun activities for the kiddos. (There’s a place called Coyote Oatie in downtown Glendale you should experience. Sorry no blog about that just yet but maybe soon! Skip the flan and go here! )
La Santisima has dos locaciones (or two locations for the spanish impaired) One in Central Phoenix and the other in Glendale. Been to both and they’re pretty consistent.
